Take the Kids to Santa in Playstation Home

Nice quick trip to his Grotto for those strapped for time. Nice to see the Home getting festive.
Good example of seasonal marketing

Santa has added a layover in PlayStation Home to an already-packed holiday itinerary. On December 10, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is opening up a new PlayStation Home space that allows you to see Santa’s workshop through the unique Home filter — by which we mean it’s now kind of eerie.

Arkham Asylum A Medical Review

Polite Dissent is a great website which analyses the medical scenes within comic books. The blogger is now taking his turn at the PS3/X-Box360 Batman game. Follow the link to his site for a more in-depth medical review of the game. I love the strange idea that the game has that mental illness can be seen through the use of x-rays!

I’ve had several people ask me what I think, medically, of the game Batman: Arkham Asylum and I’m happy to oblige. If posting to the blog seem light this week, you can blame the game.

Overall, it’s a great experience. Though I’m a big fan of video games, it takes a lot for a game to really suck me in to its world completely, and Batman does that (the previous game that pulled this off was the first God of War). The setting, character design, and storyline are all appropriately creepy and the voice acting — especially Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill — is excellent. Playing the game, I really feel like Batman — I see a crowd of thugs and think, “I can take them, easy,” just like Batman should.

Free Realms Comic Preview and more

Free Realms is stil on target for release on PS3 in early 2010 so the in game bonus might not be useful for PS3 owners but if you want to know more about this Kid Friendly MMO, THEN CLICK AWAY.
clipped from www.joystiq.com

Looking for some supplementary materials for Sony Online Entertainment’s utterly adorable, free-to-play MMO Free Realms? You’re in luck. DC Comics brand WildStorm and SOE are teaming up to publish a comic book series based on the popular online game. J.S. Lewis, the author of the Grey Griffins children’s book series, will be penning the story, but let’s be honest — you won’t be picking up the comics for the story.

No, we wager you’ll purchase the comics because of the unlockable in-game items they’ll contain. The first issue, which drops July 29, includes the “Spider Bite Sword.” We imagine the following 11 issues will include equally enticing armaments. If you are interested in the story, you can check out a brief preview of Issue no. 1 right here.

History and Little Big Planet

This is a quirky littledownload coming to LBP. I imagine the stickers will be the usual interesting sort but there is no real info out on those yet. I love the LBP character and I use a sheet by Don’t Panic as a fun way for my students to create their own historical Sackboy!

Reenact Amadeus with the LBP History Pack on Aug. 13

The Japanese LittleBigPlanet website has revealed that some new historical DLC is scheduled for August 13. According to the above image, there will be both a History Kit (¥300) — which looks to include some new stickers and decorations — and a History Costume Pack (¥400). The costumes available include Ghengis Khan, Boudica, Countess of Lovelace and Mozart. Each costume will be availalbe individually for ¥100.

Not available in the pack: Antonio Salieri. Now, if you’ll excuse us, it’s time to design a level about God laughing at him.
